Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day here in the United States of America. To be clear, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was without a doubt an extraordinary man who spoke with absolutely extraordinary clarity and took extraordinary action to bring about a lovelier America. In my humble opinion, he remains a true and positive American Icon.
I am so delighted to see so many people use this day as a day of service. In addition, I feel as though those of us who serve all year long - especially during the holiday season which precedes the holiday - should be encouraged to carelessly enjoy our freedoms with a day of skiing, reading, organizing, planning, or embracing hygge on this lovely wintry day off.
Still, I would like to gently urge you to take advantage of any service opportunities that present themselves today. For example, if you should realize you have extras. duplicates or leftovers from the holiday season, take a moment to box/bag them up and donate them for those less fortunate.
So, on this and every MLK Jr. Day, I wish you a safe and lovely day spending it as you please.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Leverette
