A few months ago, I heard an interesting interview on National Public Radio (aka, the wonderful and amazing National Public Radio). Jennifer Close, the author of a newly published book called The Hopefuls, was discussing and reading from her latest piece. I just knew the book would be enjoyable for me because I shared similarities with several of the characters in the story.

So many of Close's descriptions of life in the DMV (DC-Maryland-Virginia) area, highlights from the 2008 and 2012 presidential campaigns, and what it's like to be the spouse of the one who came to the area for a job were so on point to me.

The story was well-written and very engaging. I honestly laughed out loud, gasped on occasion and found myself reading it at 3AM. Because I am recommending this book, I won't give away too much of the story and I encourage you to give this one a read.

Here is a link to the author's interview with NPR: WAMU-Close Interview

Warning: There is a bit of profanity particularly near the end and two or three suggestive moments; but, for the most part, the story rolls along without too many offenses.

Enjoy!
