I am a reader. If I were to guess, I'd say my reading diet consists of 80% Non-Fiction and 20% Fiction. This is rather a shame because I really enjoy well-written stories of interesting people, in lovely places having a mixture of funny, romantic, and clever experiences.

At least once a year, and definitely each summer, I make an effort to read something light and fun as described above. For Summer 2016. my book was all summer long by Dorothea Benton Frank. I chose it for several reasons but mostly because I love CHARLESTON, SC which is where most of the story takes place.

While I'm not a fan of the title being printed in lower case letters and the authors name name in big capital letters, I must admit that I totally judged this book by its cover and imagined it would be the perfect read for my 2016 holiday in Charleston in last month. Unfortunately, I didn't order it in time. Fortunately, it did indeed arrive in time for my 2016 holiday in California this month. I enjoyed it so much.

While there were some predictable bits and some unusual editing choices, neither of these facts, detracted significantly from the overall piece. I loved the many allusions to actual establishments. The descriptions of meals. people and locations had me longing to be there with the characters (in its less dramatic moments). Mostly, I loved the loving relationship of the protagonist and her husband, Nick.

I mention the character, Nick, specifically because he was such a gentleman. His manners were always appropriate, natural and appreciated. This is the kind of man etiquette-trained boys might grow into being.

I definitely recommend this book for a light read - especially in the summertime.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Leverette
